Swirl melty baked Brie with fig jam and capers and bake in a bread bowl for a retro snack to dip apple slices into.
- 1 round loaf of bread
- 1 wheel of brie cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
1. Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Take the round loaf of bread and cut off the top to create a lid. Hollow out the inside of the bread, leaving about 1 inch of bread on the sides and bottom. Reserve the bread pieces for later use.
3. Place the hollowed-out bread bowl on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
4. Cut the brie cheese into small cubes and place them inside the bread bowl.
5. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Drizzle this mixture over the brie cheese in the bread bowl.
6. Place the lid back on top of the bread bowl and wrap the entire loaf in aluminum foil.
7. Place the foil-wrapped bread bowl in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes.
8. After 15 minutes, remove the foil from the bread bowl and return it to the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
9. While the bread bowl is baking, cut the reserved bread pieces into cubes for dipping.
10. Once the bread bowl is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
11. Serve the baked brie in a bread bowl with the cubed bread pieces for dipping. Enjoy!
