This chocolaty dish may take a while to make, but trust me, it's so worth it in the end! The warm, gooey treat is literally what most would describe as heaven on a plate!
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Mix well.
2. Add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until it doubles in size.
5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
6. Roll out the dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
7. Sprinkle the cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice over the surface of the dough.
8. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the dough.
9. Starting from one of the longer sides, roll the dough up tightly, like a jelly roll.
10. Place the rolled dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
11. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough in half lengthwise, leaving one end intact. Twist the two halves together, keeping the cut side facing up.
12. Shape the twisted dough into a circle, tucking the ends under. Press down gently to seal the ends.
13. Let the bread rise for an additional 20 minutes.
14. Brush the top of the bread with olive oil and sprinkle with a pinch of salt.
15. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
16. Let the bread cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm.
