Fresh Homemade Salsa

recipe Detail

Description

This salsa recipe is made with canned green chilies instead of jalapeños. It tastes great, so I'm sticking with it!

Ingredient

- 4 medium ripe tomatoes

- 1 small white onion

- 1 jalapeno pepper

- 1 lime

- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

- Olive oil

- Salt

- Pepper

- Garlic powder

- Cumin

- Chili powder

Direction

1. Start by preparing the vegetables. Wash and dice the tomatoes, onion, and jalapeno pepper. Remove the seeds and ribs from the jalapeno pepper for a milder taste.

2. In a small mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, onion, and jalapeno pepper.

3. Squeeze the juice of one lime into the bowl with the vegetables.

4. Add 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro to the bowl.

5. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the vegetables and mix well.

6. Season the salsa with salt, pepper, garlic powder, cumin, and chili powder to taste. Start with a small amount of each seasoning and adjust according to your taste preference.

7. Mix everything together until well combined.

8. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.

9. Serve the fresh homemade salsa with tortilla chips or use it as a topping for tacos, burritos, or your favorite Mexican dish.
