Golden Apple Pie

recipe Detail

Description

Pies are the dessert I like best to prepare. This one’s the favorite for family get-togethers, and it has been awarded blue ribbons at a couple of local fairs.

Ingredient

- 2 golden apples

- 1/2 cup sugar

- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

- 1 tsp cinnamon

- 1/4 tsp nutmeg

- 1/4 tsp salt

- 1 tbsp olive oil

- 1 pre-made pie crust

- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Direction

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Peel and core the golden apples, then slice them thinly. Place the apple slices in a bowl and set aside.

3. In a separate bowl, mix together the sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

4. Pour the dry mixture over the apple slices and toss to coat them evenly.

5. Roll out the pre-made pie crust on a floured surface. Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish, trimming any excess dough around the edges.

6. Pour the coated apple slices into the pie crust, spreading them evenly.

7. Drizzle 1 tbsp of olive oil over the top of the apples.

8. Roll out the remaining dough and cut it into thin strips. Arrange the strips in a lattice pattern over the top of the apples.

9. Brush the beaten egg over the lattice crust to create a shiny finish.

10. Place the pie on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

11. Once done, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.

12. Optional: You can sprinkle some additional cinnamon and sugar over the top of the pie before serving for an extra touch of sweetness.

Enjoy your delicious golden apple pie!
