Creamy "marry me chicken" just got our favorite upgrade yet with this recipe.
- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1 package of cheese tortellini
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
1. Cook the tortellini according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large pan or skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.
3. Season the chicken pieces with salt, pepper, dried oregano, dried basil, and paprika.
4. Add the chicken to the pan and cook for about 5-7 minutes, until browned and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
5. In the same pan, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
6. Pour in the chicken broth and scrape the bottom of the pan to deglaze it.
7. Add the heavy cream and parmesan cheese to the pan. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is well combined.
8. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes, until it thickens.
9. Add the cooked tortellini and chicken back to the pan. Stir to coat everything in the sauce.
10. Let the dish cook for an additional 3-4 minutes to allow the flavors to come together.
11. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a splash of chicken broth or water to thin it out.
12. Serve the marry me chicken tortellini hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired. Enjoy!
