Rotel Dip with Sausage

recipe Detail

Description

This Rotel dip with sausage is an amped-up version of the familiar Rotel and Velveeta dip, and only takes a couple of extra steps to make. Not only does adding sausage stretch the dip but it also takes it to another level of flavor. 3 ingredients is all you need. Serve with tortilla chips or anything you like for dipping.

Ingredient

- 1 can Rotel tomatoes and green chilies

- 1 lb ground sausage

- 8 oz cream cheese

- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

- 1 tbsp olive oil

- 1 tsp garlic powder

- 1 tsp onion powder

- Salt and pepper to taste

- Tortilla chips for serving

Direction

1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground sausage and cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

2. Drain any excess grease from the skillet and return to the stovetop. Reduce heat to medium.

3. Add the can of Rotel tomatoes and green chilies to the skillet with the sausage. Stir to combine.

4. Cut the cream cheese into small cubes and add them to the skillet, stirring until melted and fully incorporated with the sausage and Rotel mixture.

5. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to evenly distribute the seasonings.

6. Let the dip simmer for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it is heated through and the flavors have melded together.

7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the dip. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

8. Remove the skillet from heat and let the dip cool for a few minutes before serving.

9. Serve the Rotel dip with sausage warm, with tortilla chips for dipping. Enjoy!
