Description

An Italian-American classic, this freezable sausage pasta bake is an ideal make-ahead family dish for busy days

Ingredient

- 1 pound pasta

- 1 pound Italian sausage

- 1 onion

- 2 cloves garlic

- 1 can crushed tomatoes

- 1 cup shredded cheese

- Olive oil

- Salt and pepper

- Dried oregano

- Dried basil

Direction

Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until it is al dente.

3. While the pasta is cooking, remove the casings from the Italian sausage and chop the onion and garlic.

4. In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces with a wooden spoon.

5. Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

6. Pour in the can of crushed tomatoes and add a pinch of salt, pepper, oregano, and basil to taste. Stir everything together and let it simmer for 10 minutes.

7. Drain the cooked pasta and add it to the skillet with the sausage and tomato sauce. Stir until the pasta is coated with the sauce.

8. Transfer the pasta mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.

9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
