This stir-fried sesame chicken with broccoli has the classic, sweet, slightly spicy flavor you expect, but is also loaded with fresh broccoli florets. Serve with white or brown rice, or your favorite Asian noodles.
- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 head of broccoli, cut into florets
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: dried spices such as ginger, paprika, and onion powder
1. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
2. In a separate bowl, coat the chicken pieces with sesame seeds, making sure they are evenly coated.
3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
4. Add the chicken pieces to the skillet and cook until golden brown and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes.
5. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
6. In the same skillet, add the broccoli florets and cook for 3-4 minutes, until slightly softened.
7. Add the soy sauce mixture to the skillet and stir to coat the broccoli.
8. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the broccoli is coated and the sauce has thickened.
9. If desired, add in any dried spices such as ginger, paprika, and onion powder to enhance the flavor.
10. Add the cooked chicken back to the skillet and stir to combine everything together.
11. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
12. Serve the sesame chicken and broccoli over rice or noodles, and enjoy!
