Ground beef, sausage and cheese make this tater tot casserole with green beans a crowd-pleaser. Cayenne pepper and hot Italian sausage give it a pleasant kick.
- 1 package of tater tots
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 can of cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- Dried thyme
- Dried parsley
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with olive oil.
2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat from the pan.
3. Add the diced onion to the skillet with the ground beef and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the onion is slightly softened.
4. Season the ground beef and onion mixture with salt, pepper, dried thyme, and dried parsley, to taste. You can also add any other seasonings or spices of your choice.
5. Next, pour the can of cream of mushroom soup over the ground beef and onion mixture. Stir to combine all of the ingredients and let it simmer for a few minutes.
6. In your greased baking dish, spread an even layer of tater tots on the bottom of the dish.
7. Pour the ground beef and soup mixture on top of the tater tots, spreading it out into an even layer.
8. Top the casserole with a layer of shredded cheddar cheese.
9. Bake the tater tot casserole in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
10. Once done, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
