Triple Chocolate Scone

Description

Chocolate for breakfast is always a win!

Ingredient

- 2 cups all-purpose flour

- 1/4 cup sugar

- 1 tablespoon baking powder

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1/3 cup cold butter, cubed

- 1/2 cup milk

- 1 egg

- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

- 1/4 cup white chocolate chips

- 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips

- 1 tablespoon olive oil

- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

- Powdered sugar (optional)

Direction

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

 

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix well.

 

3. Add 1/3 cup of cubed cold butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

 

4. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of milk, 1 egg, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Slowly pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

 

5. Fold in 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1/4 cup of white chocolate chips, and 1/4 cup of dark chocolate chips into the dough.

 

6. On a lightly floured surface, gently roll out the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut the dough into 8 equal wedges.

 

7. Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a few inches in between each one. Brush the tops of the scones with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. If desired, sprinkle some cinnamon on top for a spicy kick.

 

8. Bake the scones for 15-18 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.

 

9. Allow the scones to cool for a few minutes before serving. If desired, dust some powdered sugar on top for an extra touch of sweetness.
